Are you Logo_wired_inline?

In September 2009, over 300 people participated in the most Wired survey ever. They signed up to Wakoopa, joined the Wired Reader Panel and ran a tracker application for two weeks. Afterwards, we recorded their usage of software and websites, anonymized it, and published a study about the latest trends. And now, the results are in!

How does it work?

Install the Wakoopa Tracker application on your desktop and leave it running in the background. This application will send what software and web applications you use to your online Wakoopa profile. You can go to Wakoopa to see what has been tracked, and check out all other things their social network has to offer. In October, Wired will aggregate the data from your Wakoopa profile in their inaugural Intelligence Briefing. We'll send you this briefing free of charge and will publish it as well.

Why should I participate?

Because you'll receive an exclusive invitation to the Wired Intelligence Briefing, held October 1st 2009 in London. But wait, there's more. As a Wired reader, you are part of a group of some of the most informed and innovative people around. Via this study we aim to have your voice heard and give insight into what makes you tick on a daily basis. Not only will this help Wired to better understand you as a reader, but it will also give others insight into the life of the early adopter and the digital enthusiast. In other words: let's show everybody what's next.

What will happen with my data?

At the end of September 2009, we will take all data of the Wired Reader Panel participants on Wakoopa and anonymize it. No usernames will be preserved, and everything will be combined into one huge pile of statistics. All that data will then be combined into a report, containing graphs and statistics similar to a trend report. Keep an eye on Wired.co.uk for results of the study. Afterwards, you can of course continue using Wakoopa, or delete your profile easily.

What about my privacy?

Good question! We will always fully respect your privacy. While taking part in the study, you can see what is tracked, you can export it and delete it at any time. Read more about this in Wakoopa’s privacy policy.
