The 2nd most popular action game on Windows
… More EditTeam Fortress 2 is a free-to-play multiplayer, team-based, first-person shooter, developed by Valve Corporation as part of the game compilation The Orange Box. It was released for Windows, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 in 2007.
The game was announced in 1998 as a sequel to the original Team Fortress mod for Quake, but has since been through various concepts and designs. In 1999, the game appeared to be deviating from the original Team Fortress and Valve's own Team Fortress Classic mod for Half-Life by heading toward a more realistic and militaristic style of gameplay, but the design metamorphosed further over the game's nine-year development and game engine switch. The final rendition of Team Fortress 2 bears more resemblance to the original Team Fortress and Team Fortress Classic games, and sports a cartoon-like visual style, based on the art of J. C. Leyendecker, Dean Cornwell and Norman Rockwell following a popular trend in recent CGI films (in particular, films recently made by Pixar/Disney, such as The Incredibles).
The lack of information or apparent progress for six years of the game's development caused it to be labeled as vaporware, and it was regularly featured in Wired News' annual vaporware list among other ignominies. The game has received critical acclaim and several awards since its release.
On June 23, 2011, Valve announced that Team Fortress 2 would become a free-to-play title; the core game could be enjoyed for free, while unique equipment, character outfitting, and the like would be available as microtransactions through the in-game store tied through Steam. Though Valve will continue to add items to the store to support the game, Walker asserted they will continue to provide new features and items for free. Walker noted that through various promotions, Valve has come to understand the wide range of players that continue to play the game, and that for the multiplayer title, "the more people playing the game, the higher value the game has for each individual customer". The move came after a week after Valve introduced several other third-party free-to-play games to the Steam service, and commented to journalists that they were working on their own free-to-play title.

It's free and only lose to Battlefield 3 (for FPS type games). Obviously an awesome game
its now free
I Downloading it
If the Mac version of this game was a ship, it would probably sink right away because the many enormous gapes it has with memory leaking out of it. Starting and closing the application takes minutes and logging in or disconnect too/from a server takes forever (if the game does not crash or shows a error message). I have this problem on both my iMac (late 2009, 2,6 GHz dual core CPU, 2 GB RAM) and my Macbook Pro (early 2011, dual core i7 CPU, 4 GB RAM).
But when I'm finally done loading it's quite fun to play. I really like the variety of the different classes, the teamwork, the game modes, the maps, the silly outfits and funny characters. After a while I got bored of playing the same maps over and over, but after a break of about 4 weeks it is just as fun to play.
Great and fun game!
A big change from console gaming. I'm yet to get very good at it.
Very very good game.A cartoon like game , very well done , so much easters eggs and so funny. Excellent gameplay .
可玩性高
With over 200 updates, hilarious characters and a great appearance for people to enjoy as they turn their opponents into fountains of blood and body parts. Now that its free, there isn't really any reason why everyone doesn't own it. Unless of course you are against awesome cartoon violence. Because if you are, then you are lame and should return to your cult of lameness
I have over 1000 hours logged and counting. A must for every PC gamer.
Juegazo gratuito...
eh... I have 269 hours, so its a great game... but with FTP? it just makes more steam accounts... they should seperate it.... F2P AND P2P...
Can be pretty fun, but I prefer this on 360/PS3.
Possibly the best (at least the funniest) first person multiplayer. It's simple and deep at the same time, really well done. Plus now is free to play.
Very good game. But it sucks that it's free to play, because then there will be too many 12 yo helium kids.
Love the game, it's definitely my favourite first-person shooter. It's now Free2Play as well!
