Looks nice. I still keep QuickTime 7 around for some of the more advanced fathers and for playback of various file formats not supported by QuickTime X

X is better than previous version in looks, but not in functionality. However, it usually does the job, and I love the recording function, although you must Get Info the .app and switch it to 32-bit mode if you want to use a macam camera.

QuickTime 7.7: Bloated, ugly and slow
QuickTime X: Really fast and sleek looking.

So the interface is second to none, but the codec support is crappy. Add an addon called "Perian" to the mix and you get VLC-like support from a QT-looking player. Awesome.

QuickTime > WMP. Perian compliments this nicely. Still, there are better media players out there.

I have to admit that I was used to QuickTime version 7 and when I started using QuickTime X I did not see how good it is at once. Nowadays I like its look and feel, so easy to use and with its black color it is a professional video player. Regarding its interface, it goes on with a minimalistic interface, no more than three buttons, simple and useful.

The app has an excellent user interface and one of the best media engines to render media content, in the X update, similar to what happened to iMovie a lot of features have been removed, however all of those controls can be accessed by the 7th version of the app that works along side X.

Too many features removed in Snow Leopard to make this useful, thankfully Apple are returning most of them in OS X Lion.
