The most popular adventure/RPG game on Linux

Minecraft is a game by Markus Persson, also known as Notch. Minecraft is a sandbox game, in which you mine dirt, sand, rocks, ores, minerals and more! Then you can create anything you see fit out of the building blocks. Minecraft was released as an alpha on May 17, 2009, with a beta version on December 20, 2010. Official releases for iOS and Android have been released. Minecraft is fully released and came out of beta in 11/11/11. Currently it offers "creative" and "survival" modes - creative where the player is invincible and has infinite blocks, and survival where the player is free to be creative, but evil lurks in the dark... There are also another option which is still being developed but one option is out, "super flat". Released for any OS that supports Java.

A perfect game, solely because it shows that you don't need a billion features to be amazing.

Minecraft, what can I say about you? It's a perfect game, lots of mods and redstone fun. The bad thing is that it's scripted in Java so it can't dispose in memory that it isn't using, should be coded in C which has it's own memory disposal, Java also has lots of memory leaks.

Very addictive, especially in multiplayer! Alas the sometimes ridiculous bugs let it down.

very addictive sandbox game. very cute and a freely and creative game. but a little buggy. after 'waste' a lot of time, i got little bored for so little new features added to the game.

The best sandbox i've played. It is cheap.
The only bad thing is that it has been developed in Java and the performance isn't very good.

A very awesome game. At first you won't believe the fun you'll get until you actually play the game for yourself. Performance could use some tweaking to perform on slower machines but nonetheless, I still love it!

Such a great game. The approach towards the 1.0 release has brought new features and updates at an increased rate, all of which I think are fantastic additions.
