I used Corel's Wordperfect when I first started out in my profession. After four years, I switched to MS Word and have never even thought of looking back.

Useful, because most people use it. I like Pages more.
Powerful and easy-to-use. Yes, its base price is too expensive. The new interface took a little getting used to, but its organization makes it much more intuitive.
Very good word processor but I still like to use White Smoke to double check.
