The 6th most popular text editor/IDE on Mac OS X
There's actually two independent versions of MacVim: one that lives on http://macvim.org/ Vim, the other one is hosted on http://code.google.com/p/macvim/ . They share the underlying text-mode editor that has been around for ages, but the latter seems much more like a Mac application.

Best editor in the universe
one of the most powerful artifacts of text editor on all platform in the world
the best editor ever.
Use it on my all platforms.
MacVim is able to do whatever you want. See a feature in TextMate, Coda...that you want just look and you'll find a Vim plugin for it. If you're looking to start with MacVim then look at the Janus set of plugins. A great starting point for learning the power of Vim.
Un gran editor que añade mucha funcionalidad y facilidad de uso al ya grandioso "VIM"
MacVim gives me all the power and functionality of Vim while allowing me to use my mouse when I want to.
これがないとはじまらないよ!使えば使う程自分の手足になって働いてくれる。そしてロゴもかっこいいでしょ?このダサイ感じがね。あれ、Mac用はWinよりもちょっと今っぽいね。
I really love it! * 2
I learned to write code and text in Vi in college because it was the editor that was on every machine on campus. I used to used to use the vim that came with OS X, but when I found out MacVim was available, I definitely tried it out. I already had my configuration set and plugins installed from the command-line version -- so I didn't have to do anything extra. My favorite plugins are FuzzyFinder, Project, SuperTab, and snipMate -- added to turning on Omnicomplete built in and a few environment tweaks like using Inconsolata font and it's the an almost perfect environment to write code in. And I'm always learning new things reading through the docs...
Everything you want is possible with MacVim.
If you think about it, you can do it.
This is even better than Text Mate.
MacVim is *the* best text editor! All the power of VI wrapped in the beauty of OSX. Big thanks to the folks at MacVim for the amazing port.
Dont just do away with vim because you don't know how to use it. Stick with it, read some docs, personalise your config and suddenly you'll be coding MUCH faster than you were with a normal text editor / IDE. Its awesome.
If you're a vi fan AND a Mac user, Macvim (the code.google.com hosted version) is a must -- much better integrated with Mac's overall interface than Apple-distributed vim (constrained to only run in a Terminal.App, and otherwise very interface-constrained).
