The 2nd most popular personal information manager on Linux

KeePassX is a free/open-source password manager or safe which helps you to manage your passwords in a secure way. You can put all your passwords in one database, which is locked with one master key or a key-disk. So you only have to remember one single master password or insert the key-disk to unlock the whole database. The databases are encrypted using the algorithms AES or Twofish.

I great tool, because it is available on Windows, Mac and even iOS. The browser integration could be better, though.

I've been using keepassx for about 3 years now. I've looked at a lot of different password managers over the years many of which were great when used on one operating system. 5 years ago I started to use multiple operating systems though and finding a password manager that worked on all of them was a real problem. Keepassx works on Windows and Linux which works perfectly for me. In combination with Dropbox it can sync between each installation so that I'm always using the most up-to-date password file. I highly recommend Keepassx and would encourage people to donate to the project via the Sourceforge website. I've donated $10 myself.

KeePass itself is pretty much perfect as a manager for sensitive data -- sure, passwords, but also product keys and all sorts of things -- and KeePassX brings that to other platforms. Only gripe is that it doesn't feel native because, well, it's not!

Combine this with Dropbox and you really never have to worry about forgetting/losing passwords.

    Excellent password manager!
Only downside, in my opinion, is that it exports password in cleartext if you choose to export.
But i can live with that as it's possible to backup in other ways.

My password manager of choice. It doesn't hurt that it's open source with both Windows and Linux ports.

I use KeePass on Windows, if I install KeyPassX on Windows and Linux and, say, export my KeePass database and put it in my Dropbox, is the KeyPass db file interoperable with keyPassX?

L'équivalent de Keepass sous Windows, cette version Linux est 100% compatible et toujours aussi pratique.
