Microsoft's Frontpage but with a little Apple class added into the mix.
Nice Templates.
I can't always be bothered with code, this is for all those lazy times.
While iWeb make it easy to get a web page up, it has so few features, templates, or capabilities it is frustrating. There is actually a huge aftermarket of tools to make it functional for building more than just the basic Web site. Great for kids building their first Web site for a project, but that is about it.
poor copy of Dreamweaver
The good news...it is free. It makes it very easy for a newbie to post something on the web. The reality is, there are very few templates, and the templates are very hard to customize. The solution is definitely not SEO ready, and it is very hard to edit. Good for simple drag and drop family sites, but that is IT.
Almost there, but not quite. Needs a better way to nest links.
iWeb is great if you want to design your own blog and/or blog site. Easy drag and drop features, html snippets, video friendly, audio files are easily incorporated with iPhone apps or Garage band. Integrates with iPhoto and iTunes, creating a site has never been easier. The cost for MobileMe is $99.00 per year and well worth it. I used namesecure to purchase my domain name and it was easily forwarded to my MobileMe account. iPhoto Galleries are easily shared via MobileMe and incorporated into iWeb.
An excellent software to set up blogs =)
Misses out on a few things like tables. Overwrites custom code in web pages (or at least I haven't yet learned how to put in my own html and retain it).
Makes really awesome drag and drop web pages though with great effects. Easy to use and intuitive - very much like using a DTP program. For a novice this is brilliant! The best out there. For intermediate and above is limiting but still very fast and dirty.
easy using, easy publishing and editing web sites.. an cool app.
Makes spiffy looking web pages and works well with the I-apps. Nice for ease of use.
As a part of the Ilife package, included with all macs, it is hard to argue the value here. Integrated with Mobile me, getting a website set up has never been easier. I have recently stepped away from it though. I am weighing another paid option these days, and enjoying the flexibility of it. I web is tied to the Iweb program, and carrying it to another platform at this time would be at best very cumbersome.
I'd like to see some real development on this software cause I think it has great potential. It has recently seen little attention from apple since the 08 updates. I am concerned that it's getting long in the tooth for apple. Hope they continue to grow and expand it's abilities.
Basically, great for free. Intermediate programers will find this excellent. The problem is that if one adapts code on pages manually it gets over-ridden. However, easy learning curve.
Great application, simple to use but needs to have more themes and price needs to come down.
Great software for a novice. A bit of a hassle to incorporate SEO and higher level functionality.
